Antibodies for forms of Tau protein and beta-Amyloid

Unique monoclonal antibodies (mab’s) and polyclonal sera againsts isoforms of Tau protein, phosphorylated and double-phosphorylated Tau protein as well as beta-Amyloid are available.

Tau is a microtubule-associated protein comprised of six human isoforms predominantly located in the axons of neurons. Neuronal and/or glial inclusions of tau can be detected in several neurodegenerative diseases or “tauopathies”, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), Pick’s disease, and cortico-basal degeneration (CBD) and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) may be characterized by their tau isoform profiles.

NEW Antibodies: Brain-derived Tau mAb 2B8 & p50 Tau mAb 15E3

CSF total Tau is a reliable Alzheimer’s disease-specific neurodegeneration marker. In contrast, plasma t-tau concentrations show large overlaps between diagnostic groups and do not correlate with CSF t-tau. Recent studies suggest, that plasma t-tau originates from peripheral, non-brain tissues. (Fernando Gonzalez-Ortiz, et al. To solve this problem, we offer our brand-new Anti-human TAU total mab 2B8 that selectively binds to continuous exon 4-5 sequences on brain-derived Tau isoforms, but not to peripheral „Big Tau“ isoforms containing the exon 4a insert.

Hyperphosphorylation of the neuronal tau protein is a hallmark of neurodegenerative tauopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease. New research suggests, that a few master phosphorylation sites - T50, T69, T111, T181, and T205 – trigger hyperphosphorylation of tau after they have been initially phosphorylated. Our antibody Anti-human phospho-50 TAU mab 15E3 specifically binds human TAU phosphorylated at amino acid position 50 (Thr) and has the potential to distinguish AD from control patients.

Specific detection of P231 tau in astrocytic plaques from Alzheimer's patients using mab 4C10 (G.G. Kovacs, Toronto, Canada).

Specific detection of astrocytic plaques using mab 9D8 in brain of patient with Alzheimers disease (G.G. Kovacs, Toronto, Canada).

Detection of β-amyloid pathological related deposits in Cortex tissue of a patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease using mab 6D11 (S. Rossner, Leipzig, Germany).
